The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Sustainable Development Goals, established by the United Nations, consist of 17 objectives designed to eradicate poverty, protect our planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all. These goals have been a guiding force in shaping our sustainability efforts and form the foundation of our sustainability strategy.

All companies within Gema aim to embrace and expand the sustainability approach in their production activities and products in order to leave a livable world for future generations.

In this context, Gema closely monitors developments on both national and international sustainability platforms.

We are committed to effectively managing the social, environmental, and economic impacts of all our activities.

In line with our stakeholder dialogues and the global standards defined by national and international industry associations, we contribute to a total of seven Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Goal 5: Gender Equality

We support the full and effective participation of women in the decision-making processes of political, economic, and social life, and advocate for equal opportunities for women to take leadership roles at all levels of decision-making mechanisms. We also ensure gender equality is upheld across all our processes.

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

With the commitment to providing a safe and decent work environment, we aim to implement business processes and policies that prioritize human rights and occupational health and safety, and to instill this understanding in all our employees.

Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

We support innovation and the development of innovative products for sustainable growth. By investing in R&D and innovation, we aim to expand our product development processes in line with our economic, environmental, and social sustainability goals. We focus on delivering innovative solutions that enable smarter and more sustainable use and management of resources, while keeping continuous development at the core of our approach.

Goal 10: Reducing Inequalities

We adopt policies and an inclusive approach that prevent discrimination or unfair practices based on personal characteristics or preferences such as language, religion, race, or gender.

Goal 12: Responsible Production and Consumption

As Gema Group of Companies, we support the effective use and sustainable management of natural resources within the framework of the Responsible Production and Consumption practices we have adopted under the Sustainable Development Goals. While aiming to minimize carbon emissions and maintaining high standards across the value chain, we focus on developing environmentally friendly products that reduce and, where possible, eliminate environmental damage.

Goal 13: Climate Action

As part of our efforts to combat climate change, we work to limit the negative environmental impacts of all our activities, monitor our emission intensity, and develop reduction projects. In this context, we invest in energy efficiency initiatives and new technologies.

Goal 17: Partnerships for Goals

We embrace the principles and objectives of the United Nations Global Compact and strive to promote its adoption. We also support collaborations between the public sector, private sector, and civil society.
